Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our DPF and DOC cleaning services, pricing, and processes.
Services & Processes
What services does NW Emissions provide?
NW Emissions specializes exclusively in diesel particulate filter (DPF) and diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) cleaning. We offer two types of cleaning methods: thermal bake cleaning and aqueous (water-based) cleaning. Our focus on these specific services allows us to deliver expert-level results with fast turnaround times.
What’s the difference between DPF bake and DPF aqueous cleaning?
Bake cleaning uses high-temperature thermal processes to burn away accumulated soot and particulate matter from the filter. This method is effective for moderate buildup and typically takes 24-48 hours. Aqueous cleaning uses specialized water-based solutions and equipment to thoroughly clean filters with heavy contamination or oil saturation. We offer same-day turnaround on aqueous cleaning.
How do I know which cleaning method my filter needs?
Our technicians can evaluate your filter’s condition and recommend the most appropriate cleaning method. Generally, aqueous cleaning is recommended for filters with oil contamination, coolant exposure, or severe buildup. Bake cleaning works well for routine maintenance and filters with typical soot accumulation. We’ll always advise you on the best option for your specific situation.
Do you service both light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles?
Yes! We service everything from light-duty diesel pickups to the heaviest severe-duty trucks and off-road equipment. Whether you operate a single vehicle or manage a large fleet, we have the capacity and expertise to handle your needs.
Pricing & Turnaround
How much does DPF and DOC cleaning cost?
Our pricing is straightforward and competitive: DPF Bake cleaning is $250, DOC Bake cleaning is $150, DPF Aqueous cleaning is $350, and DOC Aqueous cleaning is $250. We also offer fleet discounts for customers with multiple vehicles.
What’s your typical turnaround time?
We pride ourselves on fast service to minimize your downtime. DPF Aqueous cleaning is completed same-day, while bake cleaning services (both DPF and DOC) typically take 24-48 hours. We understand that downtime costs money, so we work efficiently to get your equipment back in service as quickly as possible.

Technical Questions
How often should I have my DPF cleaned?
The frequency depends on your vehicle’s usage, duty cycle, and operating conditions. Heavy-duty vehicles and those in severe service may need cleaning more frequently. Watch for warning lights, reduced power, or poor fuel economy as signs your filter may need attention. Regular preventive cleaning can help avoid more costly repairs down the road.
Can a dirty DPF cause other problems with my truck?
Yes, a severely clogged DPF can lead to increased backpressure, reduced engine performance, poor fuel economy, and potential damage to other emission system components like sensors and turbochargers. Regular cleaning helps prevent these issues and extends the life of your emission system.
What if my vehicle needs more than just filter cleaning?
While NW Emissions focuses exclusively on DPF and DOC cleaning, we operate alongside Ferox Fleet Services, located right next door. If your vehicle shows signs of sensor faults, turbocharger problems, or other mechanical issues, Ferox’s ASE-certified technicians can provide comprehensive diagnostics and repairs.
